Update v0.10: More ascensions, new mechanics


Player can now pick any combination of ascensions, adding another flexible aspect to the game. The name 'ascension' becomes a slight misnomer now :)

New 'fatigue' mechanic penalizes infinity-type builds, as they now require one more part to assemble. Additionally, this gives more balancing tools: some previously niche cards, like Invigorate and Rally, are now more useful.

Few of the most powerful items are now rare, so player frequently has to obtain them via quests instead of just random rewards.

More cards, items, monsters, quests added. Game now has exactly 300 cards in total -- nice round milestone.

Major gameplay changes:

  • Ascensions can now be chosen in any combination
    • Game remembers most recently used set of ascensions
  • New status: 'fatigue'. Increases by 1 per card played, decreases by 10 at end of turn.
    • Card draw by effects decreased by 1 per 10 points of fatigue
  • Item rarity: Rare items are about 50% less likely to appear as random rewards
    • Unlike cards, this chance does not grow with stage number
    • Items can be filtered by rarity in item lists

Minor gameplay changes:

  • Quests with prerequisites are about twice more likely to appear than those without
  • New ascension: remove card cost affinity, making all cards equally likely to appear as rewards
  • Default card cost affinity increased, making cards with similar costs more likely to appear

Major UI changes:

  • Cards now display actual cost instead of full cost.
    • New option 'Show full cost' in settings will display both.
    • Card hint now displays reasons for actual cost (e.g. 'intelligence' status).

Minor UI changes:

  • 'Persist' effect now displays origin value after first use

  • Сynicism, Adrenaline, Omniscience, Coffee, Trained Lungs, Rune of Endurance

New items (10):

  • Glass Shield, Charcoal Pencil, Monk Beads, Mantle of Archmage, Mantle of Archbishop, Puzzle Box, Cezve, Opera Mask, Peeled Face, Bird Spine

New monsters (5):

  • Spider Web, Ravening Rat, Wraith, Wyvern, Wall of Souls

New quests (5):

  • Ranger's Guild: Take bounty for dragons
  • Tavern: Party until dawn
  • Bandit hideout: Kill while they sleep
  • Circus: Perform with snakes
  • Gambling house: Bet against the house

Balance:

  •  Buffed card upgrades for: Curtain Call, Screeching Tune
  •  Nerfed cards: Sigil of Faith
  •  'Blank Paper' item now uses 'fatigue' status instead of unique draw limit
  •  'Pause', 'Relax', 'Invigorate', 'Second Wind', 'Rally' cards now reduce fatigue

Selected bugfixes:

  • Fix hanging on Bear Cub death
  • Fix Combustion card (again, sorry)
  • Evasion spending to prevent damage now properly ignores 'amplified'
  • Several item-induced status changes now properly use 'amplified'
  • 'Telescope' sometimes provided duplicate encounter options
  • Document correctly the order of damage prevention statuses
