v0.14: New Templar hero, quest locations


New hero, Templar, gains piety when defending, allowing much faster piety accumulation for hundreds of damage with cards like Smite. The downside is penalties to hand size and early-game economy.

Quest locations give a little bit of flavor and additional control over quest choices. New challenges require non-standard decisions and a bit of luck to complete.

Lots of balance changes based on play-testing and player feedback. As always, some new content in all categories.

Major gameplay changes:

  • New mechanics 'fumbled': marks a specific effect to be skipped on next play.
    • Cleared on discarding or playing card.
  • All quests now have a specific location.
    • Completing quest from location increases chances of quests from same location by 50%
    •  Added 7 new achievements for completing all quests in certain locations

Minor gameplay changes:

  • Added 'potion', 'rune', 'ritual' encounter effects
  • Gold can now become negative

Minor UI changes:

  • Value history now displays deltas instead of previous values for each change
  • When holding items which remove cards from rewards, card list allows to filter only rewardable cards
  • Info window now allows filtering of statuses, quests and achievements by text

New hero:

  • Templar, buying resources for gold and gaining piety from defence
    • New achievement to unlock

New cards (4):

  • Tithe, Clumsy Move, Mimicry, Kismet Reservoir

New items (4):

  • Iron Purse, Chisel, Bandit's Mask, Inquisitor Seal

New monsters (2):

  • Mocking Clown, Bandit Boss

New quests (5):

  • Bandit hideout: Protect your gold
  • Casino: Double or nothing
  • Circus: Challenge chief buffoon
  • Bandit hideout: Pursue the boss
  • Old temple: Renounce magic

Balance:

  • Items are now rarity 2: Scythe, Blowgun
  • Rare items are now less likely to appear
  • Nerfed cards: Throw Net, Kunais, Tremolo, Rune of Resemblance, Carnage
  • Card Throw Bomb now has 'Exhausts in 1'
  • Added 'buff' tag to Grow Spines
  • Warrior hero now has affinity to HP cards even without one in the deck

Selected bugfixes:

  • Disable 'end turn' button in tutorial until it is explained
  • Fix preview values for some random effects
  • Fix triggers descriptions in some monster hints
  • Fix save/load on indefinitely persisting cards (Kunais, Detoxify, Rally)
  • Fix duplication of last quest on game load
